Aramatsuri-np-miya shrine
Aramatsuri-no-miya shrine at Ise-Naiku
dedicated to the spirits of Amaterasu-Omikami, revered as the devinefoundress of the Japanese imperial family and the guardian deity of theentire Japanese nation.
It is the oldest Japanese style of architecture. The wooden structureis made of Japanese Cypress. Every wooden column is placed directly inthe soil. The roof is tatched with a kind of pampas grass called kaya (MiscanthusSinensis) and at both ends of this roof there are cross beams called Chigi.On the very top ridge there are big logs called Katsuogi.
