From 1972 I started my own studio in Milan after six
years with Ettore Sottsass in Olivetti. That makes many years of
collaboration with industries in different sectors. Every time the
problems, and the solutions, were new.
We never got however down to easy compromises so that we can look back
with
some satisfaction even if many of our ideas never got realized. Some
designs
became world wide best sellers, others remained unsatisfactory as
commercial
products.
One main constant can be found in my work: every product was considered
as
an experiment of design language. My interest in a hypothetic
foundation of
design as a design theory or as a design language gave me also a
vantage
point in teaching. |
